In its first move toward national expansion, Philadelphia-based fast-casual restaurant HipCityVeg will open this spring in Washington, DC’s Chinatown neighborhood. The menu will remain the same as its Philadelphia flagship location—which includes salads, sandwiches, wraps, and groothies (or green smoothies). In addition to using only eco-friendly packaging, the restaurant’s deliveries will be made exclusively by bicycle. Alternatives to animal product-laden fast food are growing with cities around the country experiencing a boom in vegan fast-casual dining with wildly popular by CHLOE spreading across New York City, Singapore-based VeganBurg opening in San Francisco, and Plant Power Fast Food hitting San Diego.
