Vegan chef and entrepreneur Matthew Kenney partnered with plant-based living expert Jacyn Fain to launch a week-long vegan retreat in Kauai, HI set for May 2017. The inaugural Matthew Kenney Wellness program—which Kenney plans to expand to other locations in the future—will be housed in luxury club Kukui’ula, a 1000-acre retreat center on Kauai’s south shore. Guests will reside in seaside cottages with amenities such as outdoor garden showers, gourmet kitchens, fire pits, and outdoor gas grills. An on-site 78-acre farm will be used to create plant-based meals with a Hawaiian flare crafted by both Kenney and local chef Ben Takahashi. The program includes an itinerary of yoga and meditation followed by activities such as swimming, stand-up paddle boarding and surfing lessons, breathtaking hikes, island tours, farming and harvesting, zipline adventures, spa treatments, and golf. “MK Wellness achieves our mission of shaping the future of wellness with a fully realized holistic lifestyle program,” Kenney says. “Combined with a delicious and beautiful plant-based diet, we believe we are providing an integrated experience like no other in the world.” In addition to founding several culinary schools and plant-based restaurants around the world, Kenney’s in-store restaurant Matthew Kenney NM opened Friday at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills.
