Renowned food publication Bon Appetit put Ben and Jerry’s new vegan ice cream line to the ultimate taste test: children! Earlier this month, the news of Ben and Jerry’s vegan ice cream line–which consists of flavors Chunky Monkey, Coffee Caramel Fudge, PB & Cookies, and Chocolate Fudge Brownie—swept through media outlets, causing Bon Appetit to create its own taste test to determine if the buzz was worthwhile. Out of the eight children surveyed, most taste testers could not tell the difference between vegan ice cream and its animal-based counterpart, and all agreed that the vegan version is good and “tastes like regular ice cream.” When asked if they would like seconds to share with their moms, one responded, “Definitely! My mom’s a vegan so she really would like this ice cream.” Ultimately, most of the taste testers gave the ice cream an enthusiastic thumbs up, with one stating, “I would recommend it to my dad, my mom, my friends … I actually think it’s really good,” with another stating that the vegan ice cream would be great for “people over 30.”
