Luxury carmaker Bentley is currently developing a vegan alternative to its bull leather interior. The car company turns approximately 3,000 Spanish bull hides into car interiors every week, and just one Bentley Mulsanne model can require 20 hides. Autocarpro UK writer Matt Prior recently toured Bentley’s factory in Crewe, England, where he asked, “I don’t suppose there’s a vegan option?” to which a company representative replied, “Actually, we’re working on that,” citing that there is increased customer demand for animal-free alternatives. Car companies such as Ferrari and Tesla recently began offering premium vehicles with fully vegan interior, signifying a move away from equating leather with luxury.
