Portland, OR fine-dining eatery Farm Spirit will host a casual block party dinner to benefit Black Lives Matter PDX on Sunday, September 4. Suggested price for the dinner is $10 to $20 at the door, with all proceeds to be donated to BLMPDX. Farm Spirit owner and head chef Aaron Adams will harken back to his Cuban roots by preparing a Caribbean meal based on his grandmother’s recipes that will feature black beans, rice, vegan picadillo, and tropical vegetables. Earthly Gourmet, distributors of vegan and gluten-free foods, have agreed to donate all the produce for the event. Adams told VegNews that he is spearheading the fundraiser because his “veganism comes out of the politics of anti-oppression. The connection between our support for BLM is rooted there.”
