A segment of the popular The Wendy Williams Show was dedicated to plant-based foods this week. The six-minute segment featured host Wendy Williams and fellow television personality Dr. Oz gathered around a table of vegan foods discussing the health benefits of ditching animal products for the new year. The pair discussed meal options for obtaining optimal health on an animal product-free diet—highlighting meal ideas such as avocado toast for breakfast, fruit and vegetable snacks, and spaghetti squash and tempeh for lunch. “We’ve learned over the last year, with some big studies and feedback from our audience members,” Dr. Oz said, “that if they could just cut down the amount of meat they eat, it makes for a lot easier path to weight-loss.” To conclude the segment, Dr. Oz complemented Williams on her appearance and asked about her own diet, to which Williams responded to by pointing to the table in front of them and simply stating, “Plant-based.” Williams invited Dr. Oz to co-host the segment after an episode of his program, The Dr. Oz Show, aired an episode focused on vegan company Beyond Meat earlier this week.
