India-based yogurt chain Cocoberry will introduce a vegan frozen yogurt line by the first week of December to its Dehli locations. The chain agreed to develop the soy-based vegan line—which consists of strawberry, blueberry, green apple, raspberry, and berry blast flavors—under the direction of local animal-rights coalition Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO). “If the way I choose to run my business can contribute to end farm animal suffering,” Cocoberry CEO Aniket Walia said, “then that is the path I would want to follow. I will provide a nutritional dessert which helps in digestion and strengthens the immune system, gives a flavor that is irreplaceable and, at the same time, is not made out of dairy and does not contain ingredients that hurt animals in any way.” Shivangi Bahuguna, FIAPO head of corporate outreach campaigns, works with companies across the country to encourage them to replace cow and buffalo milk with plant-based alternatives and hopes that Cocoberry expands the vegan line to other regions in India by the final week of December.
