Historic Australian pub East Sydney Hotel in Woolloomooloo threw a sold-out party to celebrate its new vegan menu on Saturday. Vegan head chef Sini Kiialainen—who developed the menu after noticing a growing plant-based food trend in the region—treated guests to a 12-course tasting menu along with a selection of beers on tap and fresh juices. The extensive menu included dishes such as Deep Fried Mac Cheese with Tomato Chutney; a hot dog with fresh tomato salsa and guacamole; Pulled Jackfruit Slider with Apple-Fennel Slaw; and two dessert options (Chocolate & Peanut Butter Cup and Coconut Vanilla Pineapple Pudding). Last year, another historic pub, The Green Lion, became the first establishment of its kind to offer a fully vegan menu in Sydney.
