California-based vegetarian eatery Amy’s Drive Thru is planning to open a second location inside an abandoned Denny’s in Corte Madera, CA. The restaurant is part of iconic vegetarian brand Amy’s Kitchen and opened its flagship location in nearby Rohnert Park—serving 500 people who waited in line for more than an hour on opening day—in 2015. The eatery features a fully veganizeable menu of burgers, pizza, macaroni and cheese, chili fries, breakfast items, and milkshakes. “Amy’s Kitchen was founded more than 30 years ago based on the belief that good food should be available to all,” the company said in a statement. “Today, we are working to bring our organic, family-oriented dining experience to our neighbors in Corte Madera. We are still early in the process for the Amy’s Drive Thru on Paradise Drive and look forward to sharing additional information as quickly as we can.” The city of Corte Madera does not currently allow the operation of drive-thrus, but the company will attend a preliminary hearing next week with the city’s planning commission with the hope of overturning that rule.
