In honor of last week’s National Mermaid Day, professional mermaid Linden Wolbert partnered with Los Angeles-based vegan shop Karma Baker to produce a special-edition mermaid doughnut. The treat is available in two flavors—buttermilk with white chocolate and chocolate with dark chocolate—and is topped with vegan sprinkles and a novelty mermaid tail. “We are thrilled to have professional Mermaid Linden as the face of our doughnut campaign,” Karma Baker co-owner Celine Ikeler said. “She’s everything we envisioned in a mermaid, and she’s real!” As a mermaid, Wolbert spends her time promoting ocean conservation to children and making special media appearances in 30 countries, and has been featured on Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week,” ABC’s 20/20, and The Today Show. “When I first saw the Karma Baker Mermaid Donut,” Linden said, “it was so beautiful I didn’t want to eat it, but when I took a bite of that delicious work of art, I was hooked. I give this health-conscious sweet confection a hearty two fins up!” The shop also makes vegan unicorn doughnuts, cake pops, brownies, cakes, sandwich cookies, pies, cheesecakes, muffins, tarts, cookies, and cupcakes.
