Meat alternative brand Quorn will launch two new vegan deli slices on January 31 in the refrigerated section of supermarkets across the United Kingdom. The new gluten-free deli line includes Vegan Smoky Ham Free Slices and Vegan Chicken Free Slices. The company developed the vegan slices to fill a void in the plant-based lunch sector that its existing line of vegetarian slices (which contain milk proteins) do not fulfill. “Vegan sandwich fillers are hard to come by—or were in 2017,” the company stated, “but Quorn have come up with the ultimate lunchtime solution. Both are high in protein, and the Quorn Chicken Free Slices are low in saturated fat, perfect sandwiched with crunchy lettuce and a dollop of vegan mayonnaise.” While the new slices will not be available in the United States, Quorn Associate Brand Manager Emily Steingart told VegNews that the company is “working diligently to launch as many more vegan products in the coming years as we can.”
