Philadelphia-based vegan Dottie’s Donuts debuted its latest creation this week entitled “Eagles Fan on Greased Pole” in honor of the team winning the NFC championship, which qualifies it for the Super Bowl. The pole-shaped doughnut is made from chocolate dough that is coated in a vanilla glaze and features a green blob of matcha glaze at one end—to symbolize the green jerseys worn by Philadelphia Eagles fans. While the doughnut’s design might seem odd, Eagles fans are notorious for climbing the city’s poles when their team wins—so much so that the local police has rubbed said poles in Crisco shortening to deter climbing. The Eagles will compete February 4 against the New England Patriots at the Super Bowl, and Dottie’s has made a few menu adjustments to support its home team. “Until the Eagles win the Super Bowl,” the company stated on Facebook, “we won’t be serving our Boston cream doughnuts or any other ‘New England-themed’ doughnuts.” Dottie’s Donuts welcomes all Eagles team members to stop by its shop for a free greased poll doughnut.
