Professional cricketer Virat Kohli—the captain of India’s national team—revealed that he recently transitioned to a plant-based diet. The athlete is regarded as one of the best in the world at his sport and credited the shift away from animal products to his improved performance on the field. “Kohli started this diet four months ago and is feeling stronger as his digestive power has increased,” a source close to the athlete told the Times of India. “He isn’t missing meat, eggs, or dairy.” Kohli joins a group of esteemed athletes around the world that have transitioned to a plant-based diet to stay competitive in their respective sports, including professional race car driver Lewis Hamilton, basketball player Kyrie Irving, and soccer star Hector Bellerin.
