Media lifestyle personality and author Maisha Wynn is launching the “What’s on the Menu?” vegan culinary tour highlighting her favorite restaurants in Chicago from November 24 to 29. Wynn, who went vegan after suffering from a brain aneurysm and battling obesity, is celebrating World Vegan Month with the week-long tour to educate others about the benefits of a plant-based diet. The tour will kick off with a vegan soirée at Latin-America eatery Latinicity with vegan appetizers, music, and a panel of influencers including raw foodist and restaurateur Karyn Calabrese, Heather Bodine-Lederman of vegan bakery Pie, Pie My Darling, and Kay Stepkin of the National Vegetarian Museum traveling exhibit. Downtown Chicago restaurants Portsmith, Mercadito, and Volare will also be highlighted during the tour, offering three-course vegan meals for $33. “November is World Vegan Month, a time to bring awareness to the vegan lifestyle by promoting healthy living, social responsibility, and humane animal treatment,” Wynn said. “The ‘What’s on the Menu?’ tour will show patrons delicious and healthy options. I’m excited to share vegan cuisine with vegans and non-vegans, and I’m proud to partner with chefs at Latinicity, Portsmith, Volare, and Mercadito.” A portion of the tour’s proceeds will go toward brain aneurysm awareness research at NorthShore University HealthSystem.
