Legendary rock band Def Leppard dined on a variety of vegan food before performing at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England on Sunday. Prior to the show, a representative of the venue placed a catering order with vegan eatery Junk It Up for a 10-piece “fricken” bucket, vegan hot wings, and a “fricken” classic burger with cheese. “We have a great relationship with the Metro Radio Arena and the Academy [another Newcastle venue], and have cooked for a lot of famous bands and acts in the past, but this by far [is] the biggest band we’ve been asked to do food for,” Junk It Up co-owner Kerry James said. “We couldn’t believe it for a second. Def Leppard [is an] absolute rock legend and the whole team is so excited to be making food for [the band members], especially vegan junk food.” Both guitarist Phil Collen and drummer Rick Allen have been longtime advocates of veganism. In June, Allen extended his compassionate lifestyle to the fashion industry by launching vegan luxury handbag line BonSac.
