You may have seen the now-infamous activated charcoal vegan croissant making its rounds on the internet, but if this black, trendy pastry isn’t for you, here are some next-level bakeries making a vegan option of the beloved French pastry; one of them will be just your speed.
1. Timeless Coffee’s Pain Au Chocolate
This all-vegan coffee shop and bakery is well-stocked with every delicious pastry we could possibly crave, but we’re smitten with its traditional dark chocolate-filled Pain Au Chocolate.
2. Ridiculous Baking Company’s Croissant Breakfast Sandwich
Arrive early to avoid pushing your way through the crowd that’s usually gathered at this Hollywood farmers’ market stand. Its towers of the classic French pastry are irresistible, but we particularly love its take on the breakfast sandwich with melty cashew cheese and savory housemade breakfast sausage.
3. L’Artisane Bakery’s Mango-Passion Croissants
There’s a reason this bakery won the annual competition Croissant Battle Miami. Its innovative take on the time-honored baked treat results in mouthwatering flavors like this Mango-Passion croissant.
4. Benk + Bo’s Original Croissants
This eco-friendly community space’s vegan-friendly café serves up perfectly flaky croissants everyday to local Londoners. We’re head over heels for their traditional croissant (best devoured with a hot cup of Earl Grey tea).
5. Sweetpea Baking Company’s Tofu Skramble and Cheddar Croissants
This Portland-based vegan mainstay is well-known for its wide variety of decadent sweets, but its savory tofu scramble and plant-based cheese-filled croissant is a must-order.
6. Brooklyn Whisker’s Everything Croissant
With several locations throughout New York, this vegan retail and wholesale bakery cafe’s goods are worth a trip to the Big Apple. Make sure to grab one of its unique Everything Croissants stuffed with jalapeño cream cheese!
7. Beet Box Bakery’s Peach Croissants
Denver’s adorable all-vegan bakeshop always has glass cases filled with incredible sweets, but we recommend picking up a freshly baked peach croissant with your morning cashew-milk latte.
8. Laélo’s Vegan Ham and Cheese Croissants
When talking about vegan croissants, we have to include Paris-based vegan restaurant Laélo. When in France, do as the French do and pick up a ham and cheese croissant (or as the French say: jambon fromage).
