Popular Burger Chain Debuts Vegan Beetnik Burger

While vegan options at Byron previously included no more than fries and sides, the United Kingdom-based chain stepped into the modern era with a falafel burger.

United Kingdom-based hamburger chain Byron recently launched its first vegan entreé, a beet-based falafel patty called the Beetnik burger. The new menu item is topped with baby kale, smashed avocado, tomato, pickled red onions, red pepper ketchup, and lime-dressed rainbow slaw. Prior to the launch of the Beetnik, the only vegan-friendly items on the chain’s meat-heavy menu were sides such as French fries, a house salad, and tortilla chips. A growing number of restaurants and supermarkets in the UK have recently added vegan items to meet consumer demand, including Patty & Bun’s vegan Whoopi Goldburger, Bierkeller Entertainment Complexes’ vegan Bavarian sausages, and Tesco’s 20 chef-crafted plant-based grab-and-go meals from vegan food brand Wicked Kitchen.
