Vegan Beyond Burger may soon debut at United States locations of fast-food chain A&W. The burger launched on July 9 at Canadian A&W locations, many of which are continually selling out of the plant-based burger and have launched a Beyond Burger mailing list to notify patrons when the burger is back in stock. Sarah Blasi, Vice President of Marketing for A&W United States—a separate entity from the Canadian franchise—said the popularity of the Beyond Burger has not gone unnoticed. “We are monitoring the trend towards meatless/vegan options and are also reviewing the Beyond Burger for possible introduction in the US,” Blasi told media outlet QSRWeb, “but have yet to make a commitment.” To meet demand, California-based Beyond Meat announced last month that it intends to open a second production facility in Missouri that will triple the production capacity of its Beyond Burger. This fall, the Beyond Burger will be accessible to three million university students through food-service provider Aramark that will add the plant-based option to the menu of on-campus chains Burger Studio and Grille Works.
A&W Considers Adding Beyond Burger to US Locations
The Beyond Burger is such a hit at A&W Canada locations—where it is consistently sold out—that United States branches are considering adding the popular plant-based patty to their menus.
