Arizona-based restaurant chain True Food Kitchen will begin serving its vegan-friendly fall menu starting October 3 across Texas. The new menu includes an all-vegan Butternut Squash Pizza topped with roasted garlic, kale, caramelized onion, sage, dried cranberries, and dollops of housemade vegan almond ricotta. Business mogul Oprah Winfrey made an equity investment in the company earlier this summer and joined its board of directors with the mission of helping True Food Kitchen expand. “I love bringing people together over a good meal,” Winfrey said. “When I first dined at True Food Kitchen, I was so impressed with the team’s passion for healthy eating and, of course, the delicious food, that I knew I wanted to be part of the company’s future.” In 2016, Winfrey urged her 3.3 million Twitter followers to ditch meat after discussing the inherent cruelty present in the animal agriculture industry on her show “Super Soul Sundays.”
