Vegan meal delivery company Purple Carrot has added 2-ounce vegan cheeses to select meal kits, including its Green Gazpacho and Mediterranean Flatbread recipes. Vegan company Treeline Treenut Cheese created the 2-ounce cashew-based cheese portions specifically for distribution to food companies and businesses that would benefit from the smaller format. “Our single serving sizes—two ounces and up—save meal kit providers the expense and hassle of portioning this recipe ingredient themselves,” Treeline CEO Michael Schwarz said. “Consumer demand for top quality dairy-free foods, especially cheeses, is soaring, whether it’s for snacking, preparing meals at home, school lunch boxes, or even on long-haul flights.” Purple Carrot, which launched in Boston in 2014, previously partnered with professional football player Tom Brady to create the TB12 Performance vegan meal kit, and announced this week its partnership with Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman to promote the benefits of plant-based eating.
