Starting today, Del Taco will add a specially formulated version of Beyond Meat Beef Crumbles—a vegan meat replacer made with pea protein—to its menu at two Los Angeles locations (Santa Monica and Culver City), before expanding the plant-based offering nationwide. In addition to substituting the Beyond Meat Beef Crumbles in any meat-based dishes (such as burritos, fries, and nachos), customers can order the vegan meat in two prepared menu items: the Beyond Avocado (which features lettuce, tomato, avocado, and a corn or flour tortilla) and the Beyond Taco (which is made with similar ingredients and can be made vegan by omitting the cheddar cheese). “For my kids and their friends, Del Taco is a routine stop after games or practice.  I’m thrilled that they can now, along with Del Taco customers, enjoy delicious Beyond Tacos and other entrées built with our delicious, sustainable, plant-based meat,” Beyond Meat CEO Ethan Brown said. “I’m grateful to Del Taco leadership and team for their willingness to innovate with speed and vision.” Beyond Meat is most popular for its Beyond Burger, which will return in October to the menu at fast-food chain A&W Canada (where it has been continually sold out since its launch in July) and make its United Kingdom debut at supermarket Tesco.
