United Kingdom-based vegan startup Allplants recently raised £7.5 million ($9.88 million) in a series A capital funding round. Vegan brothers Alex and Jonathan Petrides started the company—which delivers ready-to-eat meals such as Black Bean Chili, Jerk Jackfruit, and Cashew Mac—in January 2017 with the mission of making plant-based eating more accessible, and have since served 250,000 meals across the UK. “Most Allplants customers aren’t veggie or vegan; they’re curious and hunting for convenient, healthy ways to boost their busy lives,” Jonathan Petrides told TechCrunch. “This investment will help us fuel the plant-based movement forward.” The brothers plan to use the new capital to expand their production capacity and product line, and grow their 40-member team. Last year, Allplants made history when it raised £800,000 ($1 million)—the largest venture capital round a plant-based company had ever closed in Europe.
