British retail chain Marks & Spencer (M&S) debuted its first vegan footwear line this week. The line consists of more than 350 shoe styles, including sneakers, heels, sandals, menswear, and childrenswear, starting at £19.50 ($25) per pair. “After increased customer interest in veganism and a rise in online searches for related products, we decided to investigate the possibility of expanding our vegan-friendly offering into footwear and accessories,” M&S Senior Footwear Technologist Rachel Smith said. “Over the year we have analyzed our products and gone the extra mile to ensure we offer a great selection that complies with all vegan requirements.” The new launch follows the retail chain’s January debut of 60 plant-based food items under its Plant Kitchen brand, including No Pork Sausages, BBQ Pulled Jackfruit Pizza, and a wide selection of ready-made vegan meals.
