Pregnant Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle plans to break with royal tradition in selecting a birthing center to deliver her child. While Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton gave birth to all of her children in a luxury suite inside St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, Markle plans to deliver her child in the vegan-friendly Mulberry Suite inside the Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey. The suite features amenities such as a birthing pool, king-sized bed, and full vegan menu comprised of a burger, vegetable stir fry, lentil casserole, chickpea curry, several vegetable sides, and three fruit-based dessert options. Markle also chose to paint the walls of her baby’s nursery inside the Frogmore Cottage with gender-neutral hues using vegan paint—which is free of toxic chemicals, milk derivatives, and beeswax commonly found in other paints. “Meghan has been looking long and hard at paints for the Sussex nursery,” a source told The Sun. “Rather than [opting] for fashionable Farrow and Ball paint in favored shades such as Wevet, Peignoir, Pavilion Grey, and Salmon, the Sussexes are much in favor of The Organic & Natural Paint Co.’s Auro range for the nursery.” Markle is expected to give birth to her first child in April.
