This week, pizza chain Domino’s added four new vegan pizzas to its menus across Australia. The new Hawaiian, Ham and Cheese, Supreme, and Pepperoni pizzas are plant-based versions of the chain’s most popular pies. “Introducing iconic toppings such as ham and pepperoni to our plant-based range means our customers have more choice than ever before,” Domino’s Australia and New Zealand CEO Nick Knight said. “We’ve scoured the globe for partners who can deliver this—a plant-based pepperoni has long-been considered the ‘holy grail’—it’s a signature of pizzas around the world and loved for its unique and delicious flavor. Now vegans, vegetarians, and flexitarians alike can enjoy some of our most popular menu items.” After polling its customers about demand for vegan options last year, Domino’s Australia partnered with United States-based vegan brand Follow Your Heart to add its vegan cheese to menus nationwide and has since experimented with new menu items. In July, the chain expanded its vegan toppings to include soy-based beef which it featured on three plant-based pizzas: Beef & Onion, Beef Loaded Burger, and Beef Taco Fiesta—which sold out at half of Domino’s Australia locations within two weeks. “We are proud of our new plant-based toppings, which are made in Australia specially for Domino’s, and are just as tasty and affordable as the real deal,” Knight said. “We will continue to listen to feedback and give our customers more of what they love.”
