On January 1, Whole Foods Market (WFM) will launch scrambled vegan JUST Egg on the hot bar of 63 stores in the Southern Pacific region (Arizona, Hawaii, Southern California, and Las Vegas, NV). Additionally, WFM is launching three new breakfast sandwiches featuring the mung-bean-based vegan egg which will be available at the stores’ pizza station or hot bar during breakfast hours. The three sandwich flavors include Gardein sausage, JUST Egg, and Good Planet cheddar cheese; Lightlife bacon, JUST Egg, and Good Planet cheddar; and Spicy Soyrizo with chipotle aioli and Good Planet cheddar. All sandwiches will be made on an English muffin or vegan brioche bread from Los Angeles bakery Rockenwagnor. WFM is also currently working on vegan breakfast pizzas featuring JUST Egg that will be served at the stores’ pizza station at select locations. “We are always looking for great partners to help us expand our vegan options,” WFM Prepared Foods Associate Coordinator Megan Tucker told VegNews. “JUST Egg is a fantastic product we know our customers are going to be excited about.” Last year, WFM launched three vegan breakfast sandwiches featuring a chickpea-based EatGUD vegan egg patty at its 58 locations in the same region. Beginning on January 1, the supermarket chain will launch new ready-to-eat EatGUD sandwiches in three flavors: V’Egg and Cheez, Chipotle V’Egg and Cheez, and Garden V’Egg and Cheez. These new offerings will be made on gluten-free English muffins with Good Planet cheddar and conveniently packaged in grab-and-go cases of 59 mainland stores (excluding Hawaii).
