Quebec-based dessert shop Mr. Puffs will open its first United States location in a 250-store mall in Orlando, FL, near Walt Disney World. The shop specializes in Greek loukoumades (similar to doughnut holes) made with a yeast-based batter consisting of flour, cinnamon, and water, a recipe that a spokesperson for Mr. Puffs confirmed to VegNews is vegan. While the shop is not entirely vegan, the vegan doughnut holes can be ordered with several vegan toppings, including strawberry and raspberry sauce, maple syrup, and cinnamon sugar. Mr. Puffs also offers almond or soy milk instead of dairy for its beverage options. “We are extremely excited to be opening doors in our neighboring country. The brand has proven to be successful in Quebec and we are thrilled to take on this new venture,” Mr. Puffs founder Billy Siounis said. “Orlando is the perfect place for these scrumptious desserts.” In addition to its first Orlando location, Mr. Puffs will open a total of 20 locations this summer, with four more Orlando locations, five Fort Lauderdale outposts, and ten shops in Miami. In Canada, the chain plans to open an additional seven locations across Quebec in 2019 with outposts in Ottawa and Toronto planned for 2020.
