This week, Los Angeles-based vegan pizzeria The Pizza Plant will re-introduce a 13-topping, Cannabidiol (CBD)-infused Half-Baked pizza to its menu. The pizza is made by lightly dressing the crust with olive oil infused with Alpen Organics CBD, and topping with nacho-inspired ingredients such as house-made vegan Italian sausage, nacho cheese, black beans, chipotle salsa, cashew sour cream, shredded cabbage, avocado, cilantro, cherry tomatoes, hemp seeds, and jalapeños. The pizza is served to customers with an additional half-ounce container of CBD-infused olive oil to drizzle over top before consuming. “I wanted to create a pizza that paid homage to California’s passion and advocacy for the health benefits of CBD and THC,” Marvin V. Acuna, founder of The Pizza Plant, told VegNews. “With that in mind, my chef and I considered what we’d want on a pizza if we were ‘baked.’ We let the thought ‘bake’ in our minds, then, as if in stereo, we both exclaimed, ‘nachos!’ Thus, the Half Baked was born.” The Half-Baked is available at The Pizza Plant’s brick-and-mortar location in Pasadena, CA and as a chef’s special at its food truck in Hollywood.
