White Castle Is Testing Vegan Cheese

The chain is looking for the “perfect vegan cheese” to complement its plant-based Impossible Slider patty.

Fast-food chain White Castle is currently developing a vegan cheese option. In September 2018, White Castle added the Impossible Slider to the menu of all of its locations nationwide after a successful trial of the plant-based option at 140 locations last April. While the Impossible Burger patty on its mini-burger is plant-based, in order to enjoy a fully-vegan option, customers must order the Impossible Slider sans cheese. However, according to a “Frequently Asked Questions” page on the chain’s website, that fact may soon change. “Are there any plans to add a vegan cheese to the Impossible Slider?” the question posed on the site states. “Our product development team is working to find the perfect vegan cheese to complement the Impossible Slider, please look for more information in the future,” the response states. VegNews has reached out to White Castle for information about its forthcoming vegan cheese and will update this story accordingly.
