Vegan strongman Patrik Baboumian recently responded to comedian and podcast host Joe Rogan after being insulted during an episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. In an interview with professional strongman Robert Oberst, Rogan asks Oberst what kind of diet strongmen are following.  “Just a ton of meat and rice, and we do a lot of peppers and stuff like that,” Oberst said. “No one’s vegan? What about that one guy, Patrik what the [expletive] is his name?” Rogan asked referring to German-Armenian vegan strongman Patrik Baboumian. “None of the top ones in the world. There’s a vegan strongman I’ve heard of; I don’t remember his name, but he’s never been the World’s Strongest Man,” Oberst responded. Baboumian posted a video to his own YouTube channel to address the topics discussed on the podcast. “Yes, you’re right. I have never won the World’s Strongest Man,” Baboumian said sarcastically. “Have you ever won the World’s Strongest Man? I was just wondering so I checked your Wikipedia. It doesn’t mention one single competition you’ve won. That’s weird, isn’t it? So, it looks like you haven’t won anything in your career.” Baboumian goes on to list some of his titles, including German Open Overall Champion, two time German Lightweight Champion in Strong Man, German Heavyweight Champion in Strongman, European Champion in Raw Powerlifting, one official Lightweight World Record, and three official Heavyweight World Records. Baboumian is featured in upcoming documentary The Game Changers—a film that highlights vegan elite athletes—and told Rogan to watch the film to get a better understanding of veganism in sports. “As for Joe, I know I’ve made some challenges to you in the past, most of which were of course just jokes, but I do highly recommend you watch The Game Changers before criticizing it further. As someone committed to calling out [expletive], you will probably find a lot of the science in the film quite interesting.”
