This week, Brooklyn, NY-based vegan bar Precious Metal expanded its operations to include vegan deli Seitan’s Helper. The woman-owned and -operated deli offers New-York-style sandwiches, named after famous New York women and featuring the company’s house-made seitan. The Alyssa Milano comes with mortadella, pepperoni, salami, smoked provolone, pepperoncini, vinaigrette, and mayo on a ciabatta bun. The Mona Marie is made with with black-pepper bacon, seasonal greens, tomato, garlic hummus, and lemon butter on sourdough bread. The sandwich menu can be paired with Precious Metal’s hard-to-find beers and uniquely crafted cocktails. Seitan’s Helper owner and chef Amanda Fox previously only offered her seitan and sandwiches at monthly vegan pop-ups in Brooklyn and at local stores such as Orchard Grocer and Riverdel. With plans to expand, Fox began operating out of a commercial kitchen space she shares with vegan pastry chef Laura Varley of Pisces Rising. The duo managed to raise more than $16,000 through a crowdfunding campaign to rent the space and buy production equipment.

Update: Precious Metal bar has announced that it will close on August 11, 2019. Seitan’s Helper hopes to continue working with them in some capacity at their flagship bar, Pine Box Rock Shop, in the coming months.
