This Thursday, fast-food chain Carl’s Jr. is offering customers the opportunity to try the Beyond Famous Star for free. The menu item is a meatless version of the chain’s iconic Famous Star, featuring a vegan Beyond Burger patty topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, sliced onion, dill pickle, special sauce, and mayonnaise and served on a sesame seed bun. It can be ordered vegan by omitting the cheese and mayonnaise. To receive the offer—which is available at participating locations while supplies last—customers must ask for a “Beyond Upgrade” and purchase a large drink. In January, Carl’s Jr. partnered with vegan meat company Beyond Meat to launch the menu item at more than 1,000 locations nationwide. To date, more than 4.4 million Beyond Famous Stars have been sold at Carl’s Jr. restaurants, making it the brand’s most successful burger launch over the past two years.
