On September 5, coffee chain La Colombe will launch a new, vegan latte made with the base of Oatly’s oat milk in cans at its 30 cafés, as well as on Amazon and at select retailers, including Wegman’s and Harris Teeter. The new Oatmilk Draft Latte will be available in Original, Vanilla, and Caramel flavors in 9-ounce cans for a suggested retail price of $3.49. The lattes are made using La Colombe’s proprietary process of infusing beverages with nitrous oxide which creates a unique creamy texture. “We are always innovating—pushing the limit to create great tasting beverages that are also healthy and environmentally conscious,” La Colombe CEO and Co-Founder Todd Carmichael said. “In this case, we are balancing our carbon footprint by using grain-based milks that are the most efficient and environmental way of producing a milk alternative. Oatmilk, in particular, also has all those special properties that make it react well with the nitrous, creating a deliciously frothy latte.” In 2017, La Colombe was the first specialty coffee roaster to partner with Oatly, adding the Oatmilk Draft Latte to its on-tap, in-store menu in 2018. In addition to its new ready-to-drink Oatmilk Draft Lattes, the company offers a coconut milk-based latte in original and mocha flavors.
