Fast-food chain Miami Grill now offers the Beyond Burger on the menu at select locations in Broward County, FL. The chain—which counts musician Armando Christian “Pitbull” Pérez as its key equity partner—recently added the plant-based burger to just one location but expanded the option quickly after it generated unexpected excitement amongst customers. “We started testing the Beyond Burger at one of our corporate-owned restaurants and customer reactions and comments around the taste and texture of this revolutionary product exceeded our initial expectations, so we quickly added six additional testing locations,” Jonathan H. Vogel, Chief Operating Officer for Miami Grill, said. “It’s quite clear that there’s real excitement surrounding plant-based burgers.” Miami Grill’s Beyond Burger is served with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions, and a choice of sauce—which can be ordered vegan upon request but customers are warned that the patties are prepared on the same grill as meat. The chain is currently awaiting signage and aims to expand its test market to include Miami-Dade County in coming weeks. Other celebrity-backed chains have embraced the plant-based movement, including Blaze Pizza—which counts basketball star LeBron James as one of its founding investors—which added its first vegan pizza to more than 300 locations last month.
