This month, Canadian fast-food chain Harvey’s added the Lightlife vegan patty to its menu at all 292 locations across the country. Customers can now choose the flame-grilled patty instead of meat when customizing their burger. The 3.5-ounce patty contains 18 grams of plant-based protein and is made with ingredients such as beets, pea protein, and coconut oil—ingredients similar to those of Beyond Meat’s Beyond Burger. “Harvey’s has a long history—over 60 years—of proudly serving Canadians great-tasting burgers,” Dave Colebrook, Chief Operating Officer of Harvey’s Canada, said. “Adding the Lightlife Burger to our menu reflects our commitment to quality, Canadian-made products and provides our guests with more access to healthy and delicious options to make their burger a beautiful thing.” Harvey’s was one of the first fast-food chains to develop and promote its own Veggie Burger in 1999—which can be ordered vegan on regular and multigrain buns, along with French fries and onion rings, which are also vegan.
