Lab testing company Healthlabs.com recently developed full lab testing panels for vegans as well as those interested in going plant-based. The tests, which range from $149 to $399, include a Vegan Nutritional Maintenance Panel, which is designed for those who are already vegan and want to ensure they have a well-balanced diet. The panel contains 11 tests for possible nutrient deficiencies that vegans may encounter if their plant-based diet is off-balance. The Should You Be Vegan testing panels are designed for those considering veganism and reveal which animal products are causing their body irritation. The panel offers allergy tests for 21 meat and dairy products, such as cheese, clams, eggs, gelatin, and pork.

“To put it plainly, we’ve noticed the care that vegans put into maintaining a nutrient-rich diet; this is just the best way that we could think to facilitate that,” Healthlabs.com CEO and founder Fiyyaz Pirani told VegNews. “This is an untapped market; no one has created a test panel intended to help people determine if veganism is the right choice for them. There’s been a lot of buzz around a regulated diet that is absent of animal-derived products, and a lot of people have questions. It is our hope that this blood test can help answer some of those questions.”
