This weekend, Los Angeles-based Yoga-urt will celebrate its five-year anniversary. Founded by Melissa Schulman in 2015, Yoga-urt offers a variety of organic, nut-based soft-serve made fresh daily from the shop’s own housemade almond milk.  Free of gluten and soy, rotating flavors include Vanilla Harmony, Lavender Blossom, Salted Caramel Zen, Coffee Karma, and Maple Banana Pancake.

As part of the celebration, the city’s first plant-based frozen yogurt shop will unveil its 31st rotating flavor and new vegan shakes including the limited-time Birthday Cake shake available during the weekend festivities. In addition to a $1 discount per customer, Yoga-urt will donate a dollar from every transaction to Loveland Foundation—an organization that brings opportunities and healing to communities of color (with an emphasis on Black women and girls) through mental health services, fellowships, and residency programs—and Support + Feedan initiative kick-started during the COVID-19 pandemic by Maggie Baird (mother of pop singer Billie Eilish) to help provide plant-based meals from local vegan restaurants to first responders, essential workers, and communities in need.

Customers can partake in the anniversary celebration at Yoga-urt’s Glendale and Echo Park locations from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on August 22 and 23 , respectively. In addition to socially distant patio dining, contact-free curbside pick-up and delivery through Postmates and Grubhub will also be offered.
