Vegan brand Violife—known best for its plant-based cheeses—recently launched chocolate Chocospread at select stores in the United Kingdom. The new dessert spread is made with coconut oil, brown sugar, cocoa powder, dried banana powder, and other flavorings, and is free from nuts, soy, gluten, and preservatives. “With protein and vitamin B12, this coconut based vegan chocolate spread brings a rich and sweet touch to any dish,” Violife describes the new spread. “Free from dairy, nuts, soy and gluten, this is chocolate-y goodness without the guilt.”

In June, Violife parent company Upflied Group announced its intent to invest €50 million ($56.5 million) into the Upfield Food Science Centre, a plant-based food innovation center it aims to open in Wageningen, Netherlands by the end of 2021. Upfield plans to use the center to develop new product lines under its brands, which, in addition to Violife, include Country Crock, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, and Flora.
