On April 5, new vegan ice cream brand Wildgood—which is backed by celebrity chef Bobby Flay—will launch in retailers across the North- Atlantic region. Inspired by the Mediterranean diet, the first-of-its-kind vegan ice cream is made using Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which helps give it a creamy texture. Wildgood is launching with eight flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Mango, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Hazelnut, Pistachio, Coffee, and Sea Salt Caramel.

Before founding Wildgood, artisan ice cream maker Sotiris Tsichlopoulos created one of Greece’s best-known dairy-based ice cream brands. However, Tsichlopoulos dreamed of a future with ice cream that was sustainable and plant-based. Wildgood was born after an eight-year quest to develop the best dairy-free ice cream without health sacrifices. He turned to his family’s ancient olive groves to find his alternative to dairy. For Wildgood’s ice cream, the olive oil is pressed on his family’s orchards using centuries-old techniques and then combined with ingredients such as organic ground coffee, Alphonso mango, or Oregon hazelnuts for flavor.

In addition to Flay, Wildgood’s innovative products are backed by the former CEO of dairy giant Stonyfield Farm, Gary Hirshberg and nutrition supplement company Orgain founder Andrew Abraham. Wildgood products will be available at retailers such as Shoprite, Wegmans, and Harris Teeter starting on April 5, and for purchase online starting on May 1.
