ABC News recently highlighted the health benefits of indulging in a meat-free diet in an online article. The news source cited data from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Academy of Dietetics and Nutrition, noting that at least 67 percent of the country’s residents are overweight and that indulging in a diet devoid of animal products can help reduce one’s waistline and encourage greater physical well-being. ABC also hosted a Twitter panel discussion on Tuesday, moderated by its resident health expert Dr. Richard Besser, in which food and health experts gave advice and shared their knowledge about going vegetarian.
