The old “meat-is-good-for-you” theory may have always been a pile of crap—but it just got a whole lot stinkier. According to a study published in Cancer Research, scientists discovered a link between consuming saturated fats found in animal products and cancer of the small intestine. The study examined the diets of 294,707 men and 199,293 women over the course of nearly eight years, and found that those who consumed greater amounts of saturated fat (typically found in meat and dairy products) were more prone to developing carcinoid tumors of the small intestine. Uh, no thanks.
