Asda Launches Vegan Cheese Board for Christmas

Following last year’s wildly successful introduction of vegan mince pies, the Walmart-owned supermarket is now betting on new vegan options to further increase holiday sales.

A holiday vegan cheese board will be available at United Kingdom-based supermarket chain Asda starting November 22. The new option will feature three vegan cheese flavors: a Mature Cheddar Alternative, Garlic & Chive Mature Cheddar Alternative, and Wensleydale & Cranberry Alternative. In addition to the cheese board, the supermarket is developing vegan holiday options including pâté, a chestnut roast, and chocolate caramel dessert pots. Last year, Asda debuted vegan mince pies for the holiday season and credited the new vegan product for attracting more than 300,000 new customers. Walmart-owned Asda is in the process of merging with competing supermarket chain Sainsbury’s—which recently credited its meatless options, such as newly launched Naturli Foods vegan meat, for its own profit surge.
