Game Show icon Bob Barker recently teamed up with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to talk about the cognitive benefits of eating a meat-free diet. Barker, who is approaching his 90th birthday, noted in a public service announcement that scientific studies reveal that eating animal products may be linked to developing age-related mental illnesses such as Alzheimer’s. The Price is Right host advised viewers to keep the meat off their plates for enduring healthy brain functions. “To protect your memory, eat vegetarian,” he says, “and keep your wits about you to a ripe old age.” Barker has been veg for 30 years and remains a staunch animal-rights activist, recently protesting ag-gag legislation that would make factory farm investigations illegal, supporting elephant protection campaigns, and fighting along side the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine to end animal medical testing.
