Pennsylvania-based Palmyra Bologna Company is recalling around 23,000 pounds of Lebanon bologna, a fermented, semi-dry sausage, after four people in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and New Jersey were sickened with E. coli. E. coli is a harmful, potentially deadly bacterium that can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea, and even kidney failure. This is not the first time Palmyra Bologna Company’s Lebanon bologna has made people sick: In 1995, 26 people were sickened with Salmonella after eating the product.
