The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is gearing up to file a suit against fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). The suit contends that the chain failed to warn consumers that its grilled chicken, recently added to the menu, contains a dangerous carcinogen. Independent laboratory tests commissioned by PCRM confirms that the grilled chicken contains PhIP, a chemical that can increase cancer risks even when consumed in modest amounts. The lawsuit, scheduled to be filed next week, claims that KFC is in violation of California’s public health law for withholding this information from the public.
