Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, Massachusetts’ greyhounds, and California’s egg-laying hens, veal calves, and pregnant pigs aren’t the only reasons to cheer loudly after the historic November 4 election. Voters in Ohio’s 10th district, which includes the eastern half of Cleveland, returned Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich to office once again. Kucinich, the only vegan in Congress (as far as anyone knows) and staunchly pro-peace, had stiff opposition in both the Democratic primary as well as the general election. Fortunately, the progressive policymaker, first elected to Congress in 1996, prevailed. You may now breath easier.
