Pixar has altered the ending of its upcoming animated film Finding Dory after Sea World became the object of public scrutiny due to the recent expositional efforts of the documentary, Blackfish. A Pixar employee reportedly told The New York Times that Dory, which is a sequel to 2003’s Finding Nemo, was supposed to end with the animals in an aquatic theme park, but the plot was amended so the main characters had a chance to escape. Blackfish received rave reviews from a slew of mainstream media outlets including New York Magazine, Rolling Stone, and The Los Angeles Times for its moving portrayal of the inherent suffering orca whales suffer at the hands of the animal entertainment industry.
