Kate Winslet Anti-Foie Gras

Vegetarian actress and Academy Award winner Kate Winslet has lent her voice to a video condemning the consumption of foie gras. The video, which was created by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, contains undercover footage of geese and ducks being force fed to unnaturally fatten their livers. In the video, Winslet explains the painful process by which foie gras is produced, and reminds diners of the conditions birds endure before ultimately being killed. In 2006, Chicago City Council successfully enacted a two-year ban on the sale of foie gras in restaurants. A number of states, including New York and California, are currently considering a similar ban.
