In a recent interview with The Guardian magazine, Natalie Portman talked about how Paris, France became more vegan-friendly in the two years she lived there with her husband and young son. When the reporter asked the Oscar-winning actress if she moved back to Los Angeles because of the dearth of vegan cuisine in Paris, she laughed and replied, “Actually, Paris has improved a lot for vegans in the past few years. It was a lucky moment to be there as a vegan.” When she first moved to Paris in 2013, Portman told Marie Claire magazine, “Paris is getting better for vegans—you can get anything there if you know where to look.” Portman has been vegetarian since she was 9 years old, and went vegan in 2009 after reading Jonathan Safran Foer’s memoir Eating Animals, a documentary film of which is being made that Portman is producing.
