Popular online discount retailer Overstock.com has banned all exotic animal skin products from its online store, according to a statement issued on Monday. The new policy was adopted after company officials viewed footage revealing inhumane practices in the exotic skin industry. The ban currently applies to skins from alligators, crocodiles, lizards, ostriches, eels, stingrays, sharks, and kangaroos. Last year Overstock.com banned the sale of fur, and the company also refuses to sell products made from ivory. The online store will continue to sell leather and other products made from cow skin.
